goanimate
I made a short cartoon on Animoto. This was easy and fun. I could go broke paying for all the subscriptions to these websites.
I had such trouble getting students to bring supplies to class so I chose this as my topic. It will definitely be something I will focus on when school starts.

This was fun. At some time in the future, I may upgrade so that I can make longer videos but this would definitely be useful in the classroom. Although, I may not have time to make a video on every subject...

I can see some benefits in using this kind of format. If the science department is planning an experiment for all the 7th grade teachers, we could use this to make sure everyone has the supplies required. Or, if we needed to compose a letter home to parents, each teacher could edit and add on without having to send it by email.
This format seemed the simplest out of all the ones presented in this module.

I have been using Pinterest for awhile now and I am getting comfortable with it. I have noticed that many of the teacher/educational ideas seem to be focused on elementary school. I will continue to browse through it to find things applicable to the older students.

I have created a google doc. I have heard many teachers at the school referring to google docs and I could never figure out just how it worked. I am impressed. I really like the translate option. I can send home notes to my Spanish speaking parents without harassing the bilingual teachers.

Above is the link to my delicious.com page. I love the idea of delicious. However, I am not sure that I am using it correctly. I could not get the 'tag' button to work correctly but I could add links through the 'add link' option. I will definitely revisit this topic to see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong. Being able to organize my favorites and share them is an awesome idea.

Welcome
Welcome to Mrs. Blanton's blog. I created this blog to give my students an online place for classroom information. Please feel free to share this with your parents.
There are a few items that our class will need this year.
1) 2 inch binder-Each student will be keeping an interactive journal or notebook. The 2 inch binder will be your journal/notebook. You can choose the color. I would recommend the kind with the plastic layer on the outside so that you can personalize your journal easier. These are called View Binders.
2) Tissue-Many of us suffer from allergies and will have colds throughout the school year. If you can bring in one box of tissue that will be appreciated.
3) Glue sticks/scotch tape-The activities we are scheduled to do this year will require glue sticks and/or scotch tape. Bringing in one of these items is helpful. I have plenty of Elmer's glue (the white liquid glue) but believe it or not, middle school students prefer glue sticks. Remember, you only have to bring in glue sticks OR scotch tape.
4) Surface wipes-Our work surfaces get really dirty! The best way to keep them clean for our class is to clean them frequently. Surface wipes work the best. Any brand will work just fine.
